Spiritual Travel Guide - Pondicherry

Pondicherry
Puducherry, which used to be called Pondicherry, is like the "French Riviera of the East." This is because it has a lovely history from when the French ruled there, and its buildings look special.
The name "Puducherry" comes from Tamil words meaning "new village." Before the French came, it was called Putucceri. A long time ago, it was a busy place for Roman traders and a learning spot for people who studied old Indian texts, so it was also known as Vedapuri.
Puducherry is on the southeast coast of India, not too far from Chennai. It's a mix of French style and Tamil culture. You'll see colorful streets, French-style coffee shops, and spiritual places like Auroville.
Its calm beaches, old churches, and lively markets bring visitors from all over. In 2006, its name officially became Puducherry to show its Tamil background. Now, it's still a calm and interesting place by the sea with a lot of culture.
